So temporary quick-fixes are the name of the game around here until we can get around to do a full reno on every room.. Anyway….
Chris made it for me last year out of some barn wood (off the barn out back) and some old two by fours that he took out of one of our walls.I still can’t get enough of it!.

This year for decor, I did bright, happy, kid-friendly stuff in the living room and more subdued stuff in.I tried to make this fantel bridge the two styles..I filled in the space above with some burlap and.

a little design that looks a bit like a Christmas tree.Or at least it’s supposed to!.

The horizontal surface got a whole bunch of greens and twigs from outside, a rock (for some reason), a brick with chippy white paint, and just a little bit of candle light..
The same chevron ribbon from the.We started out by painting all the cabinets a light grey color and that really made a huge difference.
The room really brightened right up but we could tell as soon as we finished painting that removing all that extra trim would really make the whole room feel so much more open.It was one of those jobs that really extended how long this whole project took by a lot, but in the end it was worth it..
So down came all that trim!.We removed those little wavy pieces over the windows as well as all the trim running along the tops of the cabinets.. We were actually able to cut those same pieces of oak trim down to fit our new design, so that was really convenient.
